Man charged with murder after fatal Walthamstow stabbing

Detectives investigating a fatal stabbing in Walthamstow have charged a man with murder.

Eugeniu Neamtu, 58 (30.07.67), of Westbury Road E17 is due to appear in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 February charged with murder.

It follows the death of a man in his 60s on the evening of Friday, 20 February.

Officers were called at 20.59hrs to a property on Westbury Road, Walthamstow, following reports of a stabbing.

Police and paramedics found a man with stab wounds to his chest. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are in the process of informing his next-of-kin.

Four men – two aged in their 20s and two in their 50s – were arrested later that evening on suspicion of murder. One was charged as above. The other three were later released no further action.

The investigation is being led by homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, who continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward.
