Man charged with murder of woman in Croydon

A man will appear in court charged with the murder of a woman in Croydon.

Earlston Bennet, 57, (17.03.68) of Towpath Way, Croydon was charged with murder on Monday, 14 April.

He will appear in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 15 April.

An investigation was launched after officers were called to an address on Towpath Way, Croydon at 04:55hrs on Saturday, 12 April.

Police arrived shortly after, but despite the best efforts of attending emergency services, a 58-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

While formal identification is yet to take place, officers have named the woman as Sarah Reynolds. Her family are being supported by specialist officers.

It is believed Bennet was known to Sarah and detectives are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.

Detectives continue their work to build a picture of Sarah’s life in the weeks leading up to her death. They are keen to speak with anyone who interacted with, or saw Sarah in recent weeks.
