Man charged with Tottenham murder to appear in court
A 30-year-old man will appear at the Old Bailey on Friday, 18 September charged with multiple offences relating to the 2023 murder of Talip Guzel in north London.
Ali Syed (31.05.1996) of Knebworth Avenue, Walthamstow was arrested by Cypriot authorities on Wednesday, 29 June on suspicion of murder, before being extradited to the United Kingdom on Tuesday, 15 September.
On the same day, he was charged with murder, as well as four counts of possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a certificate and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.
The charges relate to the murder of 33-year-old Talip who was fatally shot in White Hart Lane, N17 shortly after 23:30hrs on Sunday, 30 July 2023. Officers attended along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service but despite their best efforts, he died at the scene. A post-mortem examination gave cause of death as a gunshot wound.
Talip’s family continues to be supported by specialist officers and has been informed of the development in the case.
