Man dies following stabbing in Lloyd Baker Street, Clerkenwell

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died following a stabbing in Clerkenwell.

Around 23:20hrs on Wednesday, 16 September, officers were called to Lloyd Baker Street following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service. A 28-year-old man was found at the scene with stab wounds.

The victim was taken to hospital, where he sadly died on Thursday, 17 September. His next of kin have been informed, and are being supported by specially trained officers.

No arrests have been made, and officers are making urgent enquiries.

A Section 60 order has been authorised, granting officers enhanced powers to stop and search people and vehicles. This applies to the Caledonian Road, Clerkenwell and Hoxton areas. The order runs from 16:00hrs on Friday, 18 September, to 06:00hrs on Saturday, 19 September.

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads policing in the local area, said:

"This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the young man who has lost his life.

“You can expect to see additional officers in the area providing visible reassurance and working with partners to keep the public safe.

“The victim was found in a residential street, and members of the public may have information of vital importance to our investigation. If you can help, please come forward.”
