Man pleads guilty to murdering partner

A man has pleaded guilty to murder after he stabbed 32-year-old Alana Odysseos to death in her Walthamstow home last year.

Shaine March, 45 (02.09.1978) of Rainsborough Avenue, Lewisham, SE8 pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey on Friday 17, October.

Numerous 999 calls were made around 03:00hrs on Monday, 22 July after Alana was found outside her address on Lynmouth Road after being stabbed multiple times. Neighbours heard her shouting “Shaine stabbed me”.

Officers arrived alongside the London Ambulance Service, however despite the best efforts of emergency services, she sadly died at the scene. Her two-year-old daughter was in the address at the time.

CCTV evidence and witness statements were crucial in proving March had been in the house leading up to the attack and was ultimately responsible for Alana’s murder.

Detective Inspector Aytac Necati, who led the investigation, said:

“My thoughts remain with Alana’s family and friends, as well as her young daughter, their lives will never be the same after she was so brutally taken away from them.

“March is a cowardly individual who showed absolutely no remorse for Alana or her family. Today he has finally admitted murder and will rightly face the consequences of his actions.

“This case shows the devastating impact domestic abuse has on victim-survivors, families and communities. I urge anyone who experiences domestic abuse or controlling behaviour to report it to police, our officers will listen and will support you.”

March was arrested hours after the attack and charged with murder in the early hours of Tuesday, 23 July.

He will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on Friday, 31 October.
