Man sentenced for murder of Dickiesa Nurse
A man has been jailed for a minimum of 17 years after pleading guilty to murder.
Robert Sabat, 60 (24.1.66) of Balham, appeared at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 7 October where he was sentenced to life with a minimum term of 17 years.
He had previously pleaded guilty to the murder of Dickiesa Nurse on Thursday, 17 September at the same court.
Detective Inspector Sean Beasley, who led the investigation, said:
“This is a truly devastating case and our thoughts remain with Dickiesa's family and loved ones, who have shown immense strength and dignity throughout this investigation and the court process.
“Yesterday’s outcome reflects the determination of officers who worked tirelessly to build the strongest possible case against Sabat, leaving him with no choice but to admit his guilt.
"While no sentence can undo the harm caused or ease the profound loss felt by those who knew and loved Dickiesa, this outcome ensures that a dangerous offender will remain in prison for many years to come."
On 27 October 2025, officers were called to Dickiesa's home in Tulse Hill by the London Ambulance Service, after her family reported they had not heard from her for several days.
Upon entering the address, ambulance staff, along with Dickiesa’s sister, encountered Robert Sabat, who threatened them with a knife. Paramedics withdrew from the property and armed officers were called to the scene. Sabat was tasered, detained by officers and arrested on suspicion of murder.
Inside the address, Dickiesa was found with fatal injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A murder investigation was immediately launched, with CCTV enquiries, witness statements, forensic examination, and analysis of digital evidence enabling detectives to confirm Sabat had been present at the address in the days prior to Dickiesa last being seen, on 25 October.
