Met officer to face misconduct hearing after stalking conviction

A Met officer will now face an accelerated misconduct hearing following his conviction and sentence for stalking.

Detective Constable Tim Fory, 34, attached to the Directorate of Professional Standards, was sentenced at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 10 August to a 12-month high-level community order, 150 hours of unpaid work and a restraining order for five years.

He was convicted of stalking on Friday, 10 July following a trial at City of London Magistrates’ Court.

Police launched a swift investigation after the victim reported DC Fory’s actions in September 2024 and he was arrested four days later.

Following further enquiries, he was charged with stalking on Thursday, 6 February 2025 and suspended from duty.

His offending involved a series of off-duty stalking incidents against a woman between July and September 2024. This included harassment over social media, physically following the woman and sending a malicious message to her former partner.

Detective Chief Superintendent Iain Keating, Professional Standards, said: “DC Fory’s behaviour is a discredit to the thousands of Met officers who are committed to tackling offences against women and girls in London. His actions are even more concerning given he is attached to the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards, a unit directly responsible for investigating misconduct and upholding high standards across the Met.

“This court result, off the back of a swift investigation by officers, is a welcome one that I hope reassures women and girls - including the victim in this case - that the kind of conduct shown by DC Fory will not be tolerated.”

An accelerated misconduct hearing will now take place as soon as possible.
