Murder investigation launched after assault in Hammersmith
Met detectives have launched a murder investigation following a fatal assault at Charing Cross Hospital in Hammersmith.
On Thursday, 18 September officers were called to reports of a patient being assaulted by another patient at the hospital.
Sadly, the victim, an 85-year-old man died on Thursday, 25 September after sustaining serious injuries.
He has since been named as Andrew Farmer from Ealing. His family are aware and continue to be supported by specialist officers.
A 70-year-old man was arrested shortly after the assault at the scene.
Anatoliy Podmazko, 70 (01.07.55) of no fixed address was charged on Saturday, 20 September with grievous bodily harm. He is next set to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday, 17 October.
Officers continue to work with the Crown Prosecution Service as the investigation progresses.

Detective Inspector Kirsten Hadleigh, who is leading the investigation said: “Our thoughts remain with Andrew’s family and friends at this undoubtedly difficult time.
“We remain in close contact with Andrew’s loved ones and are keeping them up to date with the progress of our investigation.”
