Murder investigation launched in Tower Hamlets

A murder investigation has been launched after a patient was assaulted at a mental health facility in Mile End.

The incident took place at 22.09hrs on Saturday, 28 February. A 29-year-old man was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition by the London Ambulance Service. On Thursday, 5 March, he sadly died.

He can be named as Abdul Said. His family are being supported by specialist officers.

Yunus Uddin, 27 (25.01.1999), also a patient at the hospital on Bancroft Road, was charged with attempted murder on Monday, 2 March. He appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 3 March where he was remanded in custody.
