Murder investigation launched in Westminster following the death of a 26-year-old man

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 26-year-old man who was found with stab wounds in Westminster.

Police were called at 22:17hrs on Friday, 27 March to reports of a stabbing in Abbey Orchard Street, SW1.

Officers arrived on scene within three minutes of the first call and found a 26-year-old man with stab wounds. They provided first aid before the London Ambulance Service took him to a nearby hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.

The man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Detective Superintendent Dean Lanfear said: “My thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends today as they process the loss of their loved one.

“At this early stage, no suspect has been arrested and we are keeping an open mind regarding the circumstances of the incident.

“We understand the concern this incident may cause. Officers are on patrol in the area to provide a visual deterrent and to offer reassurance to residents.

“If anyone saw or has any information about what happened last night, please contact police. Even the slightest bit of information can help.”

A special post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
