New arrest in Camron Smith murder case

A man has been arrested in connection with the 2021 murder of Camron Smith.

The 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in Croydon on Friday, 27 February. He has been taken into police custody, where he remains.

Police were called to an address in Bracken Avenue, Croydon, at 00:48hrs on Thursday, 1 July 2021.

Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service. They found Camron, who was treated at the scene for stab wounds, but, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

Detective Chief Inspector Samantha Townsend, from Specialist Crime South, said: “This latest arrest demonstrates our commitment to this investigation, almost five years after Camron’s death.

“We remain dedicated to securing justice for the victim and their family.”

Three men and two boys have already been jailed over the murder. On 2 December 2023, at the Old Bailey, Romain La Pierre, 23 (16.07.02) received life with a minimum of 28 years for murder and robbery, while Jordan Tcheuko, 22 (9.01.03),was given 15 years for manslaughter. Both were convicted on 26 October 2023.

Later, Romario Gordon, 22 (13.07.2003), was sentenced to 13 years on 17 November 2025, after being found guilty of manslaughter on 25 September 2025.
