Officer due in court following rape charge

A Met officer is due to appear in court charged with rape.

PC James Brown, 26, attached to the Met Taskforce, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 9 March charged with one count of rape.

The offence took place on 30 January 2025 in Southwark when PC Brown was off duty.

PC Brown was arrested on 2 April 2025 and later released on bail while enquiries were conducted. He was charged on Thursday, 5 February.

Following the report he was immediately suspended. The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards is aware.
