Officers appeal to find woman missing from Welling two years on

Two years on from the disappearance of a woman in Welling, her family continue to appeal directly to the people who can help.

A reward of up to £20,000 is also being offered by the independent charity Crimestoppers for information that could help the ongoing investigation into missing Nazire Koreli.

Nazire, 56, was last seen close to her home in Welling in September 2024. As concerns grew about her whereabouts, she was reported missing to the Met Police on Friday, 28 February 2025 by her daughters.

Officers have carried out extensive enquiries since, including searches of her home reviewing hundreds of hours of CCTV footage and divers carrying out specialist searches in water nearby Danson Park in an effort to establish what happened to Nazire. Sadly, they have not led to Nazire being found.

Enquiries by detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command led to the arrest of a man in his 50s on suspicion of Nazire's murder on Monday, 10 March 2025. He was later released on bail and enquiries remain ongoing.

Officers continue to support Nazire's family, who remain desperate for answers as they mark two years since she was last seen.

Nazire's daughter, said: “To know my mum is to know that she is creative, loves going to concerts, cooking for her family, teaching her students, and above all, loves me and my younger sister, her ‘girls’.

“Mum raised me to be strong, determined and driven. That strength is how I have been able to deal with this heartbreak; determination is what is pushing me to find the answers we as a family so desperately need, the drive keeps me moving forward.

“Since my mum went missing, I have become a mother myself and I don’t know if I will ever accept that they may never meet. My daughter is about to turn two. Two years of a relationship my mother has missed out on, two years of not knowing the most brilliant little girl.

“I am missing not having my own mum while I have become a mum. I want to be able to pick up the phone and call her when I am having a hard day or need her advice. I’m missing our shared history. I’m missing someone to share the emotional toll with. I’m missing our inside jokes.

“Since she has been missing, I feel like half of me is living while the other half is frozen in time. There is darkness clouding every happy moment. A relentless reminder that a piece of me is gone. I broke into different pieces two years ago, giving my daughter the biggest parts of me, and losing the other parts to the grief and anguish of not having my mother here.

“There are so many unknowns, and these unknowns make it even more difficult every day. I need to know where my mum is. I need answers.”

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, who is leading the investigation, said: "Two years on from Nazire's disappearance, her family continue to face the pain of not knowing what happened to her.

"Our investigation remains active, and we are committed to pursuing every line of enquiry available to us.

"Nazire had many friends and acquaintances in the Bexley area. We are asking anyone who knew her, or who may have seen her between September 2024 and February 2025, to think back and contact police if they have any information, no matter how small it may seem.

"Nazire is described as a woman of slim build, with light brown hair and olive skin.

"If you have seen her or have any information about her whereabouts, please get in touch."

Ndella Senghore, from the Missing People Charity, said: “If anyone has any information about Nazire’s disappearance, they can contact Missing People’s Helpline.

“Nazire, if you are reading this, please get in touch. You can call us on 116 000. Our service is non-judgemental, confidential, and free. We just want to provide you with the support you need and help you to be safe.

“Our helpline is here to support people who are missing, thinking of going missing, and for loved ones who are left behind. The helpline is free and confidential and is operated by trained staff and volunteers.”

The independent charity Crimestoppers are offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information which could help with the ongoing investigation.

Alexa Loukas, Regional Manager for London at Crimestoppers, said: "Nazire's family have now spent two years without answers, and our thoughts remain with them during this incredibly difficult time. We believe someone may know what happened to Nazire and could hold the key piece of information investigators need.

“No matter how insignificant your information may seem, it could prove vital to the investigation and help bring answers and closure to Nazire's family. We guarantee that anyone contacting Crimestoppers will remain 100 per cent anonymous.

“If you know anything about her disappearance, please contact Crimestoppers anonymously. The reward of up to £20,000 is available for information that helps the investigation, and we guarantee that your identity will never be known."

Crimestoppers is completely independent of the police, and the reward is paid directly by them. The charity guarantees that everyone who contacts them stays 100 per cent anonymous.

The reward will be offered for a period of three months. Anyone with knowledge about Nazire’s whereabouts should please get in touch with the charity by calling their 24/7 contact centre on 0800 555 111 or by visiting their website crimestoppers-uk.org.
