Officers arrest two further suspects in Stockwell murder investigation

Detectives investigating the murder of Lathaniel Burrell who was shot dead in Stockwell have made a further two arrests.

On the evening of Sunday, 9 March, a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder, he remains in custody. While a 40-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, and has been bailed while investigations continue.

Lathaniel from Stockwell died at the scene following the incident at Paradise Road, SW4 on Tuesday, 4 March. He was 16-years-old.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee said: “Though we have made progress with this investigation, we continue to appeal for anyone with information about Lathaniel’s murder to please come forward and speak to us.

“We’re particularly appealing to anyone who was in the area of Paradise Road on Tuesday, 4 March. I’d also appeal to anyone with doorbell or dashcam footage around this time to come forward.

“Our priority remains tracking down those responsible for killing Lathaniel and bring them to justice.”

Police were alerted at 15:21hrs on Tuesday, 4 March to reports of a shooting and attended with emergency services colleagues.

London's Air Ambulance and London Ambulance Service treated Lathaniel at the scene but despite their best efforts, he died. His family continue to be supported by specialist officers.

The 40-year-old woman was also arrested for possession with intent to supply of Class A and B drugs.

Omar Prempeh, aged 32, was charged with murder on Saturday, 8 March in relation to the investigation.

He appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court on Monday, 10 March and is due to appear at the Old Bailey at 10:00hrs tomorrow, Wednesday, 12 March.
