Police appeal after woman seriously injured in Christmas Eve shooting
Met detectives are appealing to the public for information following a shooting that has left a woman in a serious condition in hospital.
Police were called at 22:50hrs on Tuesday, 24 December to reports of shots fired at a residential address on Cronin Street, Peckham.
Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and found one victim, a woman in her 20s, with multiple gunshot injuries. She was taken to hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition where she remained in a critical care unit over Christmas. She is still in on a ward receiving treatment.
The woman’s one-year-old son was at home with her during the incident. The child was unharmed.
Initial enquiries suggest that between 22:30 - 23:00hrs two suspects, both men, approached the front door of the property. Moments later the victim was shot, with bullets being fired through the front door. In total, seven shots are believed to have been fired into the address.
Following the shooting, the two suspects fled the scene headed on foot in the direction of Commercial Way. Both were dressed in dark clothing: one was wearing a grey hooded top and is believed to have been carrying the firearm; the second was wearing a dark‑coloured hooded top.
Detective Inspector Jordan Gardner, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a shocking act of violence, carried out at a family home where a young child was present. It is vital we identify those responsible and ensure justice for the victim.
"We know there will be people who saw or heard something that could help us. Even if the information seems minor, please come forward.
"We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Cronin Street, Commercial Way or Moody Road between 21:45 and 23:45hrs on the evening of Wednesday, 24 December.”
Officers are urging anyone who may have seen two men acting suspiciously, who witnessed them leaving the scene, or who has doorbell, CCTV or dash‑cam footage from the surrounding area to contact police.
Anyone with information is urged to call 101 quoting CAD 6674/24DEC25.
