Two arrested following fatal collision in North Kensington

Detectives have arrested a man and a teenage boy on suspicion of murder, as part of an investigation into a fatal collision in North Kensington.

Police were called at around 01:20hrs on Friday, 25 September to reports of a man found seriously injured on North Pole Road, Kensington. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service but, sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has since been named as 24-year-old Kariem Abdelhalim. His next-of-kin continue to be supported by specialist officers.

Detectives believe Kariem - who was riding an e-bike - was being pursued by a moped shortly before the collision.

Since his death, investigators have pursued a number of lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident.

As part of those enquiries, a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday, 28 September. Both remain in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is leading the investigation, said: “Since Kariem’s death, detectives have been working at pace, to build a picture of the events that night.

“I encourage anyone who has information in relation to Kariem’s death to contact us. Any information could be vital in our investigation and help provide much-needed answers for Kariem’s family.”
