Two men arrested following the death of a man in Westminster
Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of a 26‑year‑old man in Abbey Orchard Street, SW1, have made two arrests as part of their ongoing enquiries.
Police were called at 22:17hrs on Friday, 27 March, to reports of a stabbing. Officers arrived within minutes and located a man suffering from stab wounds. They administered first aid prior to the arrival of the London Ambulance Service, who transported him to hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.
Following extensive investigative work, officers have arrested two men - aged 18 and 21- on suspicion of murder. They have been taken into custody where they remain at this time.
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, who is leading the investigation, said:
“These arrests mark significant progress in what continues to be a fast‑moving and complex investigation.
“We can now also name the victim as 26-year-old Farmanullah Sherzad. Our thoughts remain with his family as they continue to process this devastating loss.
“To provide reassurance, officers will be carrying out extra patrols in the area over the coming days and will be available to speak with anyone who has concerns.”
A post-mortem examination confirmed that his death was caused by multiple sharp force trauma injuries.
Farmanullah’s family have been made aware of this update, and officers continue to support them.
