Two men sentenced for affray in Mayfair nightclub

Two men have been sentenced for affray following a Met investigation into an assault at a nightclub in Mayfair.

Chris Brown, 37 (05.05.1989), from California, and Omololu Akinlolu, 40 (20.06.1986), from Florida, were respectively sentenced to eight months' imprisonment suspended for 12 months and four months' imprisonment suspended for 12 months at Southwark Crown Court on Monday, 26 October.

At the same court on Friday, 24 July both men pleaded guilty to affray.

It follows a lengthy investigation which saw Met officers work with colleagues across UK policing to ensure that the pair would face justice.

The Met’s investigation began on 19 February 2023, after police received a report that a man in his 40s had been assaulted at a nightclub in Hanover Square in the early hours of the morning.

Enquiries established that the victim had been at the nightclub at around 03:00hrs when he was approached by two men and assaulted.

He later attended hospital, where he was found to have suffered a head injury and a minor injury to his knee.

Detectives worked to piece together the circumstances and trace the two suspects, who were known to the victim.

Repeated attempts were made to interview Brown and Akinlolu under caution. Despite being given multiple opportunities to attend voluntarily, they failed to do so and were subsequently circulated as wanted.

CCTV enquiries showed that Brown struck the victim’s head several times with a glass bottle, while Akinlolu punched the man to the back of the head. The victim was then chased, pushed to the floor and kicked.

Police were made aware that Brown was flying to the UK on 14 May 2025. The Met worked with Greater Manchester Police, whose officers arrested him in the early hours of 15 May.

Akinlolu was arrested in Manchester on the same day.

Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah, of the Metropolitan Police, said:

“This was an inexcusable attack that put a man in hospital.

“It has taken several years to secure this result for the victim and the wider public and I am grateful to the detectives who worked on this lengthy investigation.

“Despite the passage of time and the fact the suspects were no longer in the UK, we were determined that those responsible should face justice.

“Violence will not be accepted on the streets of London. Regardless of an individual's profile or status, we will pursue those responsible and work tirelessly to bring them before the courts.”
