Witness appeal after fatal collision in Southall

Police are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Southall.

On Saturday, 19 September at 01:04hrs, police were called to reports of a collision involving one car, a Ford Mustang, on South Road, Southall.

Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the passenger in the car, Ranbir Singh, aged 17, sadly died at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed and continue to receive support from specialist officers.

A man, aged 26, who was another passenger suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital. We await an update on his condition.

Officers arrested the driver of the car, aged 20, at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

He has since been charged and appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on Monday, 21 September.

Detective Inspector Fiaz Janjua, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

"This is a truly tragic incident in which a young man has lost his life and another remains in hospital with serious injuries.

“Our deepest sympathies remain with Ranbir’s family and friends, who continue to be supported by specially trained officers. during this extremely difficult time.

“While a man has now been charged in connection with this collision, our investigation remains ongoing and we are continuing to establish the full circumstances leading up to the incident.

“I would ask anyone who witnessed the collision, the manner of driving beforehand, or the movements of the Ford Mustang in the Southall area during the early hours of Saturday, 19 September, to come forward.”

+ Sukhveer Singh, 20 (20.06.2006), of Townsend Road, Southall, was charged on Sunday, 20 September with causing death by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a license and using a vehicle without insurance.

He has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, 19 October.
